There is no need for a user to adjust the Apple Watch before swimming in a pool or taking a shower. Water Lock, implemented in the Apple Watch Series 2 models, is a useful feature which lets the water flow out from the speaker.
The mode can be turned on in two ways:
- By activating the ‘Pool’ workout in your Apple Watch. When the training begins, the watch automatically blocks the screen to avoid accidental taps. As soon as the workout is over, the Digital Crown must be turned to unblock the screen and clear the water.
- If you do not want to start the workout, it is possible to clear water from the smartwatch manually by turning on the Water Lock feature. To do that, open Control Center and tap the water drop icon. Then turn the Digital Crown clockwise to unlock the screen and clear water from the speaker.
Pool water contains chemicals that can damage the components of the Apple Watch. Contact with salty seawater can also speed up watch corrosion, which is why the device requires proper maintenance. Carefully wash the Apple Watch in clear water after swimming.
